Who we are
This website is operated by Verdi Bookkeeping Services Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a bookkeeping firm at 79 Maiden Lane, London NW1 9YN. You can contact us by email at [email protected] or by phone on 020 7482 4641. Further company details are set out in our Legal Notice.
Accepting these terms
By using our website you confirm that you accept these terms and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.
These terms should be read together with:
- our Privacy Policy, which explains how we use personal data;
- our Cookie Policy, which explains what we store in your browser; and
- our Disclaimer, which explains the limits of the information on this site.
Using our website
Our website is made available free of charge for information purposes, primarily for people and businesses in the United Kingdom. You may browse the site, print or download extracts for your own personal or internal business use, and share links to our pages.
We may update, change or remove content on the website at any time, for example to reflect changes in tax rules, our services or our business. Content may occasionally be out of date, and we are under no obligation to update it.
Intellectual property
We own, or are licensed to use, all intellectual property rights in the website and its content – including text, articles, guides, design, layout, graphics and logos. These are protected by copyright and other laws in the UK and elsewhere. All such rights are reserved.
You may:
- view and print pages for your own reference;
- download reasonable extracts for personal or internal business use;
- link to our pages, provided you do so fairly and legally.
You must not:
- modify paper or digital copies of any material you print or download;
- use any illustrations or photographs separately from the accompanying text;
- copy, republish or sell our content, or use it commercially, without our written permission;
- remove any copyright or attribution notices;
- present our content as your own, or fail to acknowledge us as its authors.
Some photographs on the site are licensed stock images used under the licences of their respective libraries; those licences do not permit you to reuse them from our site. Further details are in our Legal Notice.
Information, not advice
The articles, guides, FAQs and other content on our website provide general information only. They are not bookkeeping, accounting, tax, legal or financial advice and must not be relied on as such. Tax rules, rates, thresholds and deadlines change regularly, and the right course of action always depends on your own circumstances.
You should obtain professional advice specific to your situation – from us, from your accountant or from another suitably qualified adviser – before acting, or deciding not to act, on anything on this website. You can also check current rules at https://www.gov.uk.
Any tools or calculators on our tools page give indicative estimates only, based on the information you enter and simplified assumptions.
Engaging our services
Using this website, sending us an enquiry or receiving a reply does not create a client relationship between us. We will only act for you once we have completed our identity and anti-money laundering checks and you have accepted a letter of engagement. Our services are then governed by that letter of engagement and its terms of business, not by these website terms. If there is any conflict, the letter of engagement takes priority.
Any descriptions of our services on the website are for information and do not form part of any contract.
Using our contact form
Our contact form is provided so that you can ask about our services or arrange an appointment. When you use it, you agree to:
- provide accurate details and only submit information about yourself or information you are entitled to share;
- not send confidential financial documents, bank details, passwords, National Insurance numbers or other sensitive information through the form;
- not use the form to send marketing, spam, automated submissions or unlawful, abusive or offensive content.
Form submissions are sent to us by email. We aim to reply to genuine enquiries promptly during office hours, but we cannot guarantee a response time and the form should not be used for anything time-critical such as an imminent filing deadline – please phone us instead. How we handle the information you submit is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Prohibited uses
You must not use our website:
- in any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation, or that is fraudulent or has a fraudulent purpose;
- to transmit, or procure the sending of, unsolicited advertising or promotional material;
- to knowingly introduce viruses, trojans, worms, malware or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful;
- to attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, the server on which it is stored or any connected server, computer or database;
- to attack the website through a denial-of-service attack or similar;
- to scrape, harvest or systematically extract content or contact details by automated means;
- to impersonate us or any other person, or to misrepresent your connection with us.
Breaching this section may be a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We may report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities and co-operate with them, including by disclosing your identity to them.
Links to and from our website
Our website contains links to other sites and resources, such as GOV.UK, HMRC and Companies House. These links are provided for your information only. We have no control over the content of those sites, do not endorse them and accept no responsibility for them or for any loss or damage arising from your use of them.
You may link to our home page or other pages, provided you do so in a way that is fair and legal and does not damage our reputation or take advantage of it. You must not suggest any form of association, approval or endorsement on our part where none exists, and you must not frame our website on any other site.
Availability and security
We do not guarantee that our website, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted. We may suspend, withdraw or restrict the availability of all or part of the site for business or operational reasons, including maintenance.
We do not guarantee that our website will be secure or free from bugs or viruses. You are responsible for configuring your own devices to access the site and should use your own virus protection software.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales.
Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by law:
- we exclude all implied conditions, warranties, representations or other terms that may apply to our website or its content;
- we will not be liable to any user for any loss or damage, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, arising under or in connection with the use of, or inability to use, our website, or use of or reliance on any content on it;
- if you are a business user, we will not be liable for loss of profits, sales, business or revenue, business interruption, loss of anticipated savings, loss of business opportunity, goodwill or reputation, or any indirect or consequential loss or damage.
If you are a consumer, please note that we provide this website for information and for domestic and private use. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Our liability to clients for our bookkeeping services is set out in our letter of engagement, not in these website terms.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms at any time by updating this page. Please check it from time to time, as the version in force when you use the website applies to you. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page shows when the terms were last changed.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms, their subject matter and their formation (and any non-contractual disputes or claims) are governed by the law of England and Wales. You and we both agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in full force and effect. If we do not insist on you meeting any of your obligations, that does not mean we have given up our right to do so later.
