Cookie Policy

We have kept our website deliberately free of tracking. We do not use analytics, advertising or social media cookies, and we do not embed third-party content that sets its own cookies. This policy explains exactly what little is stored in your browser, why, and how you can control it.

What cookies and browser storage are

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They are sent back to the website each time you return and are commonly used to remember settings, keep you logged in or – on many sites – track how you browse.

Browser storage (known technically as localStorage and sessionStorage) is a similar technology. It lets a website save small pieces of information in your browser. Unlike cookies, this information is not automatically sent to the website's server; it stays on your device and can only be read by pages from the same website.

  • localStorage keeps information until it is deleted – either by the website or by you clearing your browser data.
  • sessionStorage keeps information only for the current browser tab and is deleted automatically when that tab is closed.

The law treats cookies and similar technologies in the same way, so this policy covers both.

The law: PECR and UK GDPR

The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) require websites to tell visitors about cookies and similar technologies and to obtain consent before storing or accessing information on a device – unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service the visitor has requested. Where information stored is personal data, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 also apply. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data more generally.

Because everything we store falls within the "strictly necessary" exemption, we do not need your consent for it. We nevertheless show a cookie notice so that you know what is happening and can record your acknowledgement.

What we use on this website

Our website sets no cookies of its own. It uses just two browser storage items, both strictly necessary, both stored only on your device and neither ever sent to us or to anyone else.

NamePurposeTypeDuration
vbs_cookie_consentRemembers the choice you made on our cookie notice so the banner is not shown on every page.localStorage – strictly necessary, first partyUntil you clear your browser data or change your choice via "Cookie settings"
vbs_form_nameHolds the first name you typed into our contact form so the thank-you page can greet you personally.sessionStorage – strictly necessary, first partyDeleted as soon as the thank-you page loads; in any event removed when you close the tab
In short: no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no social media widgets, no third-party embeds. Nothing on this website follows you around the internet.

What we do not use

  • No analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) measuring visits or behaviour.
  • No advertising or remarketing cookies.
  • No social media "like" or "share" buttons that load third-party code.
  • No embedded videos, maps or chat widgets from third parties.
  • No fingerprinting or other covert tracking techniques.

If we ever decide to introduce any non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent before they are set.

Our web hosting provider

Our website is served by our web hosting provider (a data processor based in the UK/EEA). Like almost all web servers, it may record standard technical information in server logs – such as your IP address and the pages requested – to deliver the site and keep it secure. This is not stored on your device and is covered in our Privacy Policy.

How to change your choice

You can reopen our cookie notice at any time by selecting the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page. This lets you review this information again and update the choice stored in vbs_cookie_consent.

Because the items we use are strictly necessary, declining will not stop the website working. If you decline, we still need to remember that you have declined – otherwise the notice would reappear on every page.

How to view or clear browser storage

You can also delete cookies and site data directly in your browser. Clearing "cookies and site data" also removes localStorage and sessionStorage. Menu names change from time to time, but the steps are usually:

  • Google Chrome – Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies (or "Cookies and other site data") › See all site data and permissions. Search for vbslimited.com and delete it.
  • Microsoft Edge – Settings › Cookies and site permissions › Manage and delete cookies and site data › See all cookies and site data. Search for vbslimited.com.
  • Mozilla Firefox – Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data › Manage Data. Select vbslimited.com and choose Remove Selected.
  • Apple Safari (Mac) – Safari › Settings › Privacy › Manage Website Data. Select vbslimited.com and choose Remove.
  • Safari on iPhone or iPad – Settings › Apps › Safari › Advanced › Website Data, then swipe to delete vbslimited.com.
  • Chrome on Android – Chrome menu › Settings › Site settings › All sites (or "Data stored"), select vbslimited.com and clear its data.

Private or incognito browsing windows discard all stored site data when you close them. You can also block cookies and site data altogether in your browser settings; our website will still work, although the cookie notice may appear on each visit because your choice cannot be remembered.

For independent guidance on cookies and your rights, see the ICO's pages at https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/online/cookies/.

Our pages link to useful external websites, such as GOV.UK and HMRC. Once you follow a link, you leave our website and the other site's own cookie and privacy policies apply. We have no control over the cookies other websites set, so please check their policies.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy if the way our website stores information changes. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised.
