Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use our website and find out about our bookkeeping services, whatever their abilities or the technology they use. This statement explains what we have done to make the site accessible, where we know it falls short and how to get information in a different format.

Last updated: 24 September 2026

Our commitment

This statement applies to the website at www.vbslimited.com, operated by Verdi Bookkeeping Services Ltd. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA, the internationally recognised standard for accessible websites.

You should be able to:

  • navigate the whole website using just a keyboard;
  • use the website with a screen reader or voice recognition software;
  • zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen or content being lost;
  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings;
  • turn off or reduce animations using your device settings.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability: https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk.

Measures we have taken

We built this website with accessibility in mind from the start. In particular:

  • Semantic HTML – pages use proper headings, landmarks (header, navigation, main content and footer), lists and tables, so assistive technology can understand the structure and users can jump between sections.
  • Keyboard navigation – all links, menus, buttons, accordions and form fields can be reached and operated with a keyboard, in a logical order, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
  • Skip link – a "Skip to main content" link is the first item on every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass the navigation.
  • Alternative text – meaningful images have text alternatives describing their content; purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Reduced motion respected – scroll animations and animated counters are switched off when your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Colour contrast – text and interactive elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios, and colour is not used as the only way of conveying information.
  • Resizable text and responsive layout – text uses relative sizes and the layout adapts to small screens and high zoom levels without horizontal scrolling.
  • Accessible forms – every field on our contact form has a visible label, required fields are clearly marked, and error messages explain what needs correcting.
  • Clear language – we try to explain bookkeeping and tax topics in plain English and to explain technical terms when we use them.
  • Descriptive links – links make sense out of context, and links that open a new window are to external websites.
  • No tracking scripts or third-party embeds – keeping the site lightweight helps it load quickly on slower connections and older devices.

Known limitations

We know that some parts of the website may not be fully accessible:

  • External websites – we link to GOV.UK, HMRC, Companies House and other external sites. We are not responsible for their accessibility, although many public sector sites publish their own accessibility statements.
  • Downloadable documents – any PDF or other documents supplied by third parties may not be fully accessible to screen readers.
  • Tools and calculators – interactive tools may present results in ways that are less easy to follow with some assistive technologies. If you have difficulty, please call us and we will happily talk through your figures.
  • Stock photographs – some images are licensed stock photographs; their alternative text describes their illustrative purpose rather than every detail.

We continue to review the site and fix issues as we find them. If you encounter a problem that is not listed here, please tell us.

Alternative formats and help

If you need information from this website in a different format – such as large print, an accessible document, a plain-text email or an explanation over the phone – please contact us and tell us what you need. We will consider your request and aim to get back to you within five working days.

We are also happy to make reasonable adjustments to how we work with you as a client, for example by explaining things over the phone or in person at our office rather than in writing, or by allowing extra time for meetings. Please mention any requirements when you get in touch.

Reporting accessibility problems

We are always looking to improve. If you find any problems not listed on this page, or think we are not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact us using the details above. It helps if you can tell us the web address of the page, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using.

Enforcement

Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers must make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not placed at a substantial disadvantage. The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Equality Act 2010 in England, Scotland and Wales.

If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) at https://www.equalityadvisoryservice.com. Further information is available from the EHRC at https://www.equalityhumanrights.com.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 24 September 2026. It is based on our own review of the website against WCAG 2.2 AA, using keyboard-only testing, browser zoom, automated checking tools and screen reader spot checks. We will review it whenever the website changes significantly.
