Sectors We Work With

Over more than 25 years our team has kept the books for a wide range of London businesses and individuals. Each sector has its own rhythms, paperwork and pressure points. Understanding them means we can keep your records accurate and useful, and have them ready for your accountant when the year end comes round.

The varied London businesses and individuals we support
From Camden agencies to self-employed creatives, we support businesses across London.

Whatever your sector, our approach is the same: personal, face to face where you want it, and with a named member of our team who looks after every aspect of your bookkeeping.

Entertainment and voice agencies

Agencies sit in the middle of a flow of money between clients, artists and suppliers. Fees are received on behalf of talent, commission is deducted and the balance paid on, often with VAT applying differently at each stage. Keeping those flows clearly separated is essential.

Artist payments and commission

We record fees received, commission earned and amounts due to artists so every remittance can be traced and reconciled.

VAT and payroll

We prepare VAT Returns and run payroll for agency staff, keeping everything joined up.

TV and film production

Production companies work project by project, with budgets, freelance crews and a wide range of suppliers. Owners and producers need to see where money is going on each production as well as across the company as a whole.

Cost tracking by production

We code costs to the right project so you and your accountant can see how each production is performing.

Year-end readiness

We prepare accounts to Trial Balance with the schedules your accountant needs, including information relevant to any production reliefs they advise on.

Publishing

Publishers deal with printers, distributors, freelance editors and designers, and authors' royalties and advances. Accurate ledgers make it far easier to manage cash flow and prepare royalty information.

Sales and purchase ledgers

We keep track of what is owed to and by you, from distributors to printers and freelancers.

Royalties and advances

We record advances and royalty payments clearly so balances are easy to follow at the year end.

Solicitors and barristers

Legal practices need clear, well-organised office records. Solicitors who hold client money must also keep client account records separate from office money, and those records are subject to their regulator's rules and reporting requirements.

Office account bookkeeping

We maintain cashbooks, fee and disbursement records, VAT and payroll for chambers, sole practitioners and small firms.

Client account support

We can help keep client ledgers and reconciliations tidy and up to date. Compliance with regulatory accounts rules, and any reporting accountant's review, remain matters for the firm and its advisers.

Barristers, who are usually self-employed, can benefit from our Self Assessment and MTD Income Tax support.

Self-employed creatives and freelancers

Voice artists, actors, presenters, writers, designers and production freelancers often have income arriving from several agents and clients at once. With Making Tax Digital for Income Tax now in force for those with qualifying income over £50,000, and lower thresholds to follow in 2027 and 2028, good digital records matter more than ever.

Clear income records

We record gross fees, agent commission and expenses from each statement so nothing is missed.

Ready for MTD

We help set up compatible software and prepare your quarterly updates.

Landlords and private individuals

Whether you let a single flat or manage several properties, rental records need to be kept property by property. Private individuals may also want help organising paperwork or employing household staff.

Rental records

We record rents, letting agent statements, repairs and other costs, ready for your accountant and for MTD where it applies.

Household payroll

If you employ a nanny, carer or other staff, we can run the payroll and PAYE for you.

Small limited companies and partnerships

Limited companies must file accounts at Companies House and a corporation tax return with HMRC, while partnerships file a partnership return each year. Both depend on accurate, reconciled books.

Regular bookkeeping

Daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly bookkeeping, in software or manual books.

Working with your accountant

We prepare your records to Trial Balance so your accountant can finalise and file. We recommend Goldwins Ltd if you need an accountant.

How we work with every sector

Although each sector is different, the way we work is consistent. We start with a free initial conversation, by phone or at our office at 79 Maiden Lane in Camden, to understand your business and the records you keep. We then agree the frequency of bookkeeping that suits you, whether daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual, and whether you prefer software or manual books. Your named bookkeeper keeps your records up to date, handles VAT and payroll where needed, and prepares everything your accountant requires at the year end. You always know who to call, and that person already knows your affairs.

Please note: we are bookkeepers, not chartered accountants or tax advisers. Tax rules, thresholds and deadlines change, so check GOV.UK or speak to us or your accountant about your own situation. You can read more about year-end roles in our bookkeeper vs accountant checklist.
