Your books kept in order, whether you use accounting software or a traditional manual system.

Our team has over 25 years' experience keeping the books for small and growing businesses across London. We work with entertainment and voice agencies, TV production companies, publishers, solicitors and barristers, limited companies, partnerships and many self-employed people. Whatever the size of your business, you will have a named member of our team who looks after every aspect of your bookkeeping and gets to know how your business works.

What's included

We tailor the service to what you actually need. A typical bookkeeping engagement can include:

  • Writing up cashbooks from bank statements, cheque stubs and paying-in records
  • Maintaining sales ledgers, including raising and recording invoices and tracking who owes you money
  • Maintaining purchase ledgers, recording supplier bills and keeping track of what you owe
  • Regular bank and credit card reconciliations so your records always agree with the bank
  • Petty cash records and reconciliation
  • Recording and filing receipts and expense claims
  • Keeping records in accounting software or in a manual system, whichever suits you
  • Aged debtor and creditor reports to help you manage cash flow
  • Coding transactions correctly for VAT so your returns are straightforward
  • Periodic management reports showing how the business is performing
  • Year-end preparation so your accountant receives tidy, complete records

Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual

Every business is different, so we offer bookkeeping at whatever frequency makes sense for your volume of transactions and your deadlines. The table below gives a rough guide.

FrequencyOften suits
Daily or weeklyBusy businesses with many transactions, agencies paying talent and suppliers, firms that need up-to-date cash figures
MonthlyMost small limited companies and partnerships, particularly those running payroll
QuarterlyVAT-registered businesses on quarterly returns, and sole traders or landlords preparing for Making Tax Digital quarterly updates
AnnualSmaller sole traders and private individuals with fewer transactions who need records ready for their tax return

Regular bookkeeping is almost always easier and less stressful than a year-end scramble. For practical tips on staying organised between visits, read our article on good bookkeeping habits for small businesses.

Who it's for

Our bookkeeping services are designed for owners who would rather spend their time on clients, productions or casework than on spreadsheets. We regularly help:

  • Small limited companies and partnerships in Camden and across London
  • Entertainment and voice agencies handling commission and payments to artists
  • TV and film production companies with project-based costs
  • Publishing companies with royalties, suppliers and freelancers
  • Solicitors and barristers who need clear office records
  • Self-employed individuals, freelancers and landlords

If you already have an accountant, we work alongside them. If you do not, we can recommend one.

How it works

  1. Free initial chat. Call us or use the contact form to arrange a no-obligation conversation, by phone or face to face at our Camden office, about your business and what you need.
  2. Gather your records. We agree what we need from you, such as bank statements, invoices, receipts and access to any software, and how you will send it to us.
  3. Set up. We review your existing records, bring them up to date if needed and agree a routine and frequency that works for you.
  4. Regular bookkeeping. Your named bookkeeper keeps your books up to date, reconciles your accounts and flags anything that needs your attention.
  5. Handover to your accountant. At the year end we prepare your records, and if required a Trial Balance with full schedules, ready for your accountant to finalise.
Tip: Keeping a separate business bank account and recording transactions as they happen makes bookkeeping quicker, more accurate and easier to check.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a bookkeeper if I have an accountant?

Many businesses use both. A bookkeeper keeps your day-to-day records accurate throughout the year, while your accountant prepares and signs off your statutory accounts and tax returns. Well-kept books usually make the accountant's job quicker and simpler.

Can you work with my existing software?

Yes. We work with the main HMRC-recognised accounting packages and with manual records. If you want to switch or start using software, see our cloud accounting setup service.

My books are behind. Can you help catch up?

Yes. We can bring overdue records up to date, reconcile your bank accounts and then put a regular routine in place so you stay on track.

How do I send you my paperwork?

Whichever way suits you: in person at our Camden office, by post, by email or through receipt-capture apps and software access. We will agree the simplest method when we first speak.
