Working with us
Where are you based?
Our office is at 79 Maiden Lane, London NW1 9YN, in Camden. We're open Monday to Friday, 9.00 – 5.30. See how to find us.
Do I need an appointment to visit?
Yes, please. Call 020 7482 4641 or use our contact form so we can make sure your bookkeeper is available.
Will I always deal with the same person?
Yes. Every client is assigned a member of the team who attends to every aspect of their bookkeeping requirements.
Do you only work with businesses in London?
Most of our clients are in London, but we can work with clients anywhere in the UK by phone, email and secure file sharing.
How do you charge?
We quote individually, based on the volume of transactions, how often you need us and which services you use. Ask us for a free, no-obligation quote.
Bookkeeping & accounts
What's the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?
A bookkeeper records and reconciles your day-to-day transactions, runs payroll and prepares VAT returns. An accountant uses those records to prepare statutory accounts and tax returns and gives tax advice. We prepare your accounts to Trial Balance, ready for your accountant to finalise. Read more in our year-end guide.
Can you work from my paper records?
Yes – we can work manually or with software. If you're VAT registered or within Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, your records must be digital, and we can handle that for you.
My books are behind – can you catch up?
Yes. We regularly bring overdue records up to date, prioritising anything with an HMRC deadline, and then set up a routine so it doesn't happen again.
Which accounting software do you use?
We work with the main HMRC-recognised packages and can help you choose one. See cloud accounting setup.
Tax, VAT & HMRC
When do I need to register for VAT?
When your VAT-taxable turnover goes over £90,000 in any rolling 12-month period, or you expect it to exceed £90,000 in the next 30 days alone. See our VAT registration guide and VAT calculator.
Does Making Tax Digital for Income Tax apply to me?
From 6 April 2026 it applies to sole traders and landlords whose qualifying income (gross self-employment plus property income) was over £50,000, falling to £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. Try our MTD checker.
Can you file my Self Assessment tax return?
We prepare your records and figures so the return can be completed quickly and accurately, and work alongside your accountant, who finalises and submits it. See Self Assessment support.
How long do I need to keep my records?
Generally at least 5 years after the 31 January filing deadline for sole traders and landlords, and 6 years for limited companies. Use our records calculator.
Payroll
Can you run payroll for just one director?
Yes. Many limited company directors pay themselves a salary through PAYE, and we can run that payroll, submit RTI returns and handle the year-end forms.
Do you handle workplace pensions?
Yes – we assess staff for automatic enrolment, calculate contributions through payroll and help you meet your ongoing duties. See Payroll & PAYE.
What's the National Living Wage for 2026/27?
£12.71 an hour for workers aged 21 and over from 1 April 2026; £10.85 for 18–20 year olds and £8.00 for 16–17 year olds and apprentices.
